Mommy Tag

My friend filled out this survey on her blog and "tagged me." So, here are my answers:

1. How long have you been a Mom? Four years and 3 months
2. How many kids call you mommy? 2
3. When you were pregnant did you know what you were having? Yes, after we had the sonogram. . .
4. How old were you when you became a mom? 26
5. How long were you in labor? at least 12 hours or so with Chloe (my water broke and they put me on petocin (sp?) and I was in labor all day with the wonderful epidural :-) until they finally realized I was going to have to have a c-section. With Aaron I was in a labor maybe a couple of hours. He was a scheduled c-section but my water broke a few days before the scheduled day.
6. What’s your favorite thing about being a mom? Playing with my kids.
7. What’s your least favorite thing? potty training. . .
8. Do you want more kids? Yes. Probably a third one before too long, but I dread 9 months of pregnancy. . .
9. Have you ever taken your kid(s) on a trip? Yes. Chloe's been to Florida, Arkansas, Mississippi, Utah, and Texas (where we live). Aaron's been to Arkansas, Utah, and
10. How many times have you been peed on? Who knows. . .
11. How many times have you been barfed on? Not nearly as many times as peed on (unless you count spit up when they're babies. . .)
12. Are your kids named after someone? Chloe's middle name is Renee (my middle name) and Aaron's first name is Simon's middle name.
13. When is the last time you had a sitter? Just Hm. . .my mom lives with us and can stay with them both if they're asleep when we leave. . .
14. When your kid gets in trouble, who is the bad guy? Just depends on which one of us is there when it happens.
15. What is the longest you have been away from your kid(s)? maybe 6 hours? not sure.
16. Are your toes painted? No, but Chloe got some fingernail polish in her Christmas goodie bag from her Sunday school class last week. So, maybe she and I will paint our fingers and toes
17. Last movie you saw in theater? We saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at the dollar theatre.
18. One thing you will not give up just because you’re a mom: hmm. . .I don't know.
19. One thing you did give up now that you’re a mom? watching certain t.v. shows that I wouldn't let my kids watch--so I decided I shouldn't watch them. Of course, once your a mom, who has time for much t.v.!
20. Favorite Cartoon: As a kid I loved Dungeons and Dragons, Smurfs, and Scooby Doo. As for what my kids watch, I sure think Wonder Pets is cute :-)
21. Favorite Snack: popcorn. But, my favorite sweet tooth snack is milk chocolate chips with peanut butter.
22. When the kid(s) are napping, you are: Chloe doesn't even know what the word nap means anymore. . .when Aaron's napping I'm either playing with Chloe (or "tutoring" her--she likes for me to go over reading and math stuff with her. I do have some students I tutor) or I'm trying to get some cleaning done.
23. Where is/are your kid(s) now? They are both asleep! They're exhausted from all the late nights with cousins this Christmas!
24. If I could do it over, I’d do this differently: Potty train them before they can walk.
25. What is a lesson you’ve learned as a parent? Good methods don't work for all kids. What may seem like a fantastic discipline or potty training method may or may not work for your child. (or, in my case, there may not be a potty training method in existance that would work for Chloe. . .)

I tag. . .

One Exam down, Eight to go. . .

Yes, we got the letter in the mail that Simon passed his first architectural licensing exam!! YOO HOO!!! He's been studying hard for the next one! His goal is to get all 9 taken and passed by the end of 2008!!! So, maybe, just maybe, he'll be an official architect next Christmas :-)

The Great Wolf Lodge

We forgot to take our camera with us, so we don't have any pics for this entry. . .just ones I copied and pasted from the Great Wolf website.
Simon helped build this great hotel/indoor waterpark and so we received a complimentary one night stay! The kids LOVED the waterpark! They have great kids areas!! My mom came with us and she watched the kids for us that evening while Simon and I ran back to the waterpark to go on the "scary ones" (what Chloe said about the thrill ride slides).

There were several fun slides for the kids in the toddler area. Plus there were a couple of ones in the bigger kids areas that Chloe and Aaron went on by themselves!! We first put them on the "slower" green one. As each one came down, they each looked a bit shell shocked! I asked Aaron if he had fun, he said "fun." Then I asked him if he wanted to go again and he, without hesitation, said "no." Chloe on the other hand immediately wanted to go back and try the "fast"orange one. However, after she did that one she said it was too fast and went back to the green one.

Overall they had a great trip! (except for Chloe falling off the top bunk this morning. . . that was everyone's wake-up call at 6:45. . .don't worry, Chloe didn't have any permanent injuries. . .

Show 'N Tell

This morning, while I was getting ready to take Chloe to preschool, she was walking around holding the inside part of a roll of toilet paper. And, yes, she was, very meticulously, picking off all the scrap pieces of toilet paper that were still stuck to it. . .

Somehow, I didn't realize until after I picked her up that she had used it for her show and tell. . . What a silly girl. I sure think she's pretty funny though! :-)

Thanksgiving/Christmas Tree

We had a fabulous Thanksgiving Dinner! Simon's mom, brother (wife and kids too), and his sister (and her two children), and of course my mom (who lives with us). It was a very tasty dinner even if we did have to wait a little bit for my turkey to finish cooking. . .but, if I do say so myself, it was very moist and flavorful :)

The Day after Thanksgiving, after doing some early morning Christmas shopping. . .yes! We set up our Christmas Tree and some decorations! I knew if we didn't do it that day, we probably wouldn't get around to it until, oh, Christmas Eve :)

Here is Simon playing with the kids by the fireplace. We're so excited to have a fireplace this year on which to hang stockings! Yeah!

Our two enthusiastic helpers! The both LOVE the Christmas tree and lights. I'm afraid we're going to have the lights on all day every day from now till Christmas. . .hmm would that be considered a waste of electricity??

Family Birthday Party!

We had a combined family b-day party for Aaron's 2nd birthday with his Cousin Bradley on Nov 10th. Bradley's birthday is Nov. 9 and Aaron's will be on Nov. 18th. They are both two (well, I mean Aaron will be two on Sunday. . .)

In the video Aaron & Bradley are riding on the toy horses they're Grandma Esther gave them. Kids are so cute!!

Halloween was great! Chloe dressed up as a princess (of course!). She picked out a pink dress at the thrift store. She insisted that she had to be Cinderella in a pink dress :)
Aaron was a prince! We think he looked mostly like Prince Alladin (though Chloe thought he should've had a "blue" outfit to be "Prince Charming"), but hey, we were limited to what we could find cheap at the thrift store :-). Natalie (mommy) dressed up like a queen and Simon (daddy) dressed up like a doctor (though he was secretly a king. . .or something like that ;-)
We went to some friends' home for dinner (Springer's--they have a son, Gabe, who is one of Chloe's best friends.) and then went trick or treating in their neighborhood. Then, of course, we stopped by the Ellis' so Chloe could see Brooke's tinkerbell costume and show off her pink princess costume. Cute kids.
My kids are just growing and growing!! In fact, Chloe had her fourth birthday on September 25th and Aaron will be 2 on November 18th. And, Chloe is just so smart (not that I'm biased or anything. . .) but she's reading this blog as I type it and getting the majority of the words correct (well, maybe not a "majority", but almost a majority!) She LOVES to read!!

Crazy Child

These pictures capture some of the most fun elements of Chloe's personality. She is a fun, random, and sometimes a quite "spastic" child.

Welcome to the world of bloggin'. . .

December 2006

Okay, my wonderful friend Joni introduced me to this world of blogging. I doubt I will post a lot, but we'll see :-) I will definitely put up some pictures of my two beautiful children.

Okay, I guess I should introduce myself. I am Natalie Renee LeVar Guerrero. I grew up in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, got my bachelor's degree at BYU (Social Sciences teaching) and my master's degree at UTA (Social Work). I am currently a stay-at-home mom. I have a spectacular husband, Simon, who is exactly 4 days shy of being a year older than me (so that makes him, what, 361 days older. . .) We have two adorable children, Chloe (3) and Aaron (22 months).

Simon works for the architecture firm GSBS Batenhorst as a post-graduate intern. One of these days the licensing agency will get all his paperwork processed so he can start taking the licensing exams. . .

My mother, who is partially paralyzed on the left side of her body--an unexpected result from the removal of a cyst in her brain in 2004--is currently living with us. We enjoy having her here. My kids especially love having both grandma's very close (my mother-in-law is only 5 minutes away)--it's great!
