"Blown away"

Okay, this is an entry for the ole journal so Chloe can read it when she's older. Yes, it's a bragging one about how smart my daughter is.

Well, a week or so ago I was talking with Chloe's pre-k teacher. She told me that she had been doing preliminary assessments on the kids to get a feel for where they are academically (letters, numbers, sounds, reading, shapes, etc.) and she told me that she was "blown away" by Chloe. She said she is excited to see how far she can go with Chloe this year. She's going to get some reading books from the kindergarten teachers for Chloe to bring home.

Chloe LOVES to read and is quite good. For the primary presentation last week at church the primary pres. (who knows Chloe can read) gave her a 10 line poem to read. She did well. I received lots of compliments from people who were very surprised she could read so well.

I should finish this entry off with a pic of Chloe reading a book :-) I guess I'll just have to add that later.

She loves pre-k!! I'm glad she's getting the chance to interact with a variety of kids her age and getting use to the structured school environment. She tells me about what they do and her friends. She's also made some comments about things that have been great opportunities for us to turn into a lesson on what to or not to do and how to treat others. It's fun seeing her expand her horizons!

Fish Face

Chloe's new talent (as of a few weeks ago--I'm a little slow at journaling. . .) Yes, she is finally able to make a real fish face :-)

And below is Aaron's attempt at a fish face. . .

Football and Band

We took Chloe and Aaron to their first football game Tuesday night. Their cousin, Nic, was playing for Haltom Middle School's 8th grade team. The kids sure enjoyed exploring the large stadium! And, Chloe loved chearing for Nic :-)

After the game, 3 junior high bands played (including Haltom Middle which has both of their cousins Nic and Nate (brothers) playing. Nic plays Euphonium and Nate trombone).
The kids loved hearing the music. Then the high school band showed us part of their marching show. The kids especially liked that! They made lots of comments about the "flags."
At the beginning of the evening, Chloe said she wanted to play the flute in band one day. However, after seeing the percussion section, she decided she wants to play the drums. I told her that her Uncle's Lance and Alan (my bros. who played drums in high school band--Lance still plays and has been a band director) will be very proud :-)
Fun stuff!

First Day of School!!

Okay, Chloe's first day of Pre-K was, oh, two weeks ago. I'm a little slow. . .but here's a video. The school she's attending is a uniform school. Hence the white polo shirt and khaki skirt.

Chloe LOVES her class! She has really enjoyed the past two weeks of school and looks forward each day to going. She goes 5 days a week for 3 hours in the afternoon and the school is about two or three minutes from our house! I've been really impressed so far with the school and the teacher.
